Self-Storage Investment Firm Sterling Group Names New Partner
Sterling Group, a real estate investment firm that specializes in self-storage and multi-family housing, has named Larry Swank II as a partner. Swank currently serves as secretary and a member of the board of directors, overseeing the construction division. He’ll continue in this capacity, according to a press release.
“I am proud to have Larry join the partnership. The development of talent is an important part of our culture,” said CEO Larry Swank Sr. “Larry’s new role is a result of the priority we place on succession planning and demonstrates how the Sterling Group will continue to prosper with generational growth. It’s a momentous time in Sterling’s history.”
Since joining the firm in 2002, Swank II has worked in multiple capacities, from maintenance technician to vice president of construction. He’s overseen the construction and redevelopment of more than 6,800 self-storage and multi-family with asset values of nearly $450 million.
“Having worked in a hands-on capacity in many roles throughout the company, I have a broad perspective of our business. This has allowed me to reduce cycle times, increase capacity, and improve efficiencies and interdisciplinary company collaboration,” Swank II said. “I am excited for the next phase in my career, and look forward to continuing engaging and developing the people at Sterling as well as ushering in the next generation of Swanks to the boardroom table.”
Swank II earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master’s from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business. His brother, Lance Swank, is president of the company.
“It gives me great pride to have two sons who demonstrate an exceptional work ethic and thought leadership to take what I have built to the next generation and deliver continued success,” Swank Sr. said.
Sterling Group is a privately held, family-owned and vertically integrated firm focused on development, construction, property management and investment services in the self-storage, multi-family and senior-housing industries.
